Privacy Policy

Overview

Scrap Bridge is a buyer-led procurement platform for the U.S. scrap-metal supply chain. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from mills (buyers), scrap dealers, carriers, and visitors to our marketing site, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Scrap Bridge you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

• Account information — name, work email, company name, role (buyer, dealer, carrier, admin), and (if you opt in) a mobile phone number for SMS notifications.
• Operational data — demand postings, offers, counters, orders, freight bids, pickup confirmations, weight tickets, and other records you create to run procurement workflows.
• Communications — messages exchanged inside the platform and the content of any feedback or support requests you submit.
• Device + log data — IP address, user agent, request timestamps, and access logs used to secure the service and diagnose issues.
• Consent records — when you opt in to SMS, we store the timestamp and IP address from which you submitted the consent form, alongside the version of the consent language displayed.

How we use information

• To provide and operate the Scrap Bridge platform.
• To deliver transactional notifications by email and — if you opted in — by SMS. SMS is used only for operational alerts tied to your account activity (freight RFQs you are eligible for, load awards, pickup confirmations, delivery alerts, weight-ticket reminders). We do not send marketing SMS.
• To enforce platform terms, prevent abuse, and respond to security incidents.
• To improve the product (aggregate, de-identified usage analysis).
• To comply with legal obligations.

SMS messaging program

SMS is opt-in only. You can opt in by checking the consent box on our carrier access form at scrap-bridge.com/carrier-access or during in-app driver onboarding. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at support@scrap-bridge.com.

Message frequency varies with load activity assigned to you — typically 0–10 messages per week. Message & data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in data collected through Scrap Bridge are used solely to deliver the operational messages described above and are not shared with affiliates, advertisers, or any other third party for any purpose other than message delivery by our SMS provider.

How we share information

We share information only with the parties needed to run the platform: service providers (hosting, database, email delivery, SMS delivery, error monitoring) that process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations; counterparties within your own workflows (e.g. a mill sees offers a dealer submits to them); and authorities when required by law. We never sell personal information.

Data retention

We retain account and operational data for the life of your account and for a reasonable period afterward to satisfy legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution requirements. SMS consent records (timestamp + IP) are retained for at least four years after opt-out to satisfy CTIA and mobile carrier audit requirements.

Your choices

• Update or delete account information from in-app settings, or by emailing us.
• Opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP.
• Opt out of non-essential email by following the unsubscribe link in any such message.
• Request a copy or deletion of your data by emailing support@scrap-bridge.com.

Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect information in transit (TLS) and at rest. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a security incident affecting your data we will notify you as required by law.

Children

Scrap Bridge is a B2B service not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated by email or an in-app notice. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the current version.
